Colton's Room

So, we have finally done a few things in Colton's room. When we bought the house his room was purple and there was no way we were having our son sleeping in a purple room so I went to a Lowe's in Utah looked at blue colors and then gave Danny the names, descriptions and numbers and then had him go to the Lowe's in Kansas City and buy one that he liked too. So, that's how we chose his blue color. The hard part was figuring out a theme especially since he will be sharing it will the last baby. We decided on a Hawaiian surfers theme for the room. This way no matter what sex the baby is it will be ok. I bought this tiki hut stuff at Oriental Trading a while back and just finally got around to getting it up. Well, it was bought at the same time, one purchase, and it is not that same stuff. So, half the walls are mismatched. The picture below is the corner were it meets up with the different stuff. The one on the left is (was) a lot fuller and fluffier. The one on the right is thinner. After it was hung up I went through and cut like half of the bulk out of the one so that it would match better. It doesn't look too bad on film. Oh, and sorry about the water spots on the pictures I didn't realize they were there until I was posting.

Of course when we find out what we are having and figure out a name I will put the name for the baby. I would still like to do more with the room. But at least for now his room has some style because I've ran out of decorating money at the moment.

Brotherly love

It's amazing to me the positions that kids can sleep in. Nate has not been staying in his own bed lately, he says he's scared. So, every night I check on them and discover that Nate is sleeping with Josh. This was the position I found them in the other day and just had to take a picture. It's just such an act of brotherly love-that I love it!

The other day I jumped in the shower and got out and started doing my makeup and hair. So, the Josh and Colton were entertaining themselves nicely so I didn't check on them because their was no whining or crying so I didn't want to disturb a good thing. Well, after a little bit Josh came in and said Colton was asleep. So, I went to look at him and this is the position we found him in. Josh was kind enough to put a blanket on his brother and as we came in the room said: "SSSHHHH, Colton sleeping." It was so cute! Just another act of brotherly love. It doesn't get any better than that to see your kids showing love towards one another!

My clean boys

I think there is nothing cuter than a little boy all clean from a shower. I love when the boys are all clean and fresh! And lucky me, I had twice the joy with 2 boys in the shower! Josh got in the shower and Colton wanted in so badly. Colton really enjoys bathing or showering with Josh so I put him in with him. I am really lucky because my boys LOVE the shower at a very young age! It actually makes bath time really easy around our house. So, here are a few of my favorite pics of the boys in the shower.

This is his new trick with his fist tight and arms tenses up. He just cracks up doing it cause I do it back and it's our little game. And who can resist that smiley face!

Our Surprise!

This is our new addition to our family. I was finally able to have an ultrasound yesterday and be given a due date. It's been crazy this time because I have had absolutely no idea when I could have possibly gotten pregnant. All the others, I could pinpoint within a day or two. I went to the Dr the beginning of July for a routine appt and asked for a pregnancy test. At that time I told them what I was experiencing and felt like I had a lot of signs and symptoms of pregnancy. So, they did one and it came up negative. I accepted those results as accurate because a Dr's office test should be pretty accurate, I thought. And so I started on birth control. Little did I know, I was already pregnant. So after being on it one round and not becoming regular again I decided to just take a test to be sure even though honestly I thought it would be negative. But 2 tests later it was still positive. I was in shock! Danny was in shock! So, basically I haven't had a period in months and months so we didn't have a clues how far a long I could possibly be. So, after my Dr's appt yesterday she had me get an ultrasound and they then calculated that I'm 12wks+3days. I'm a lot further along than we thought and the Dr thought. So, basically the office pregnancy test was not accurate for me and I was pregnant then. So, our new addition will make his or her appearance some near March 23rd! It hasn't seemed real to me yet. I really haven't had any pregnancy symptoms besides extreme fatigue but that seems to have past already. So, seeing this new little baby moving and the heart beating made me excited to welcome our last baby to the family. It really helped make it real for me seeing it's little arms and legs squirming all over.

It finally happened!

It finally happened for Nate. He finally lost his first tooth! He was so super excited! He told us it was loose on Saturday and he was so excited then. I'm pretty sure between then and now he continually played with it to get it looser and looser. Well, we were out running errands when he blurted out: "My tooth came out!" I was a little stunned! I look back at him and he has a little bit of blood on his finger and he's holding his tooth. I took the tooth from him and gave him a napkin to clean up. This tooth is so stinkin' small! He has the tiniest teeth I have ever seen! He can't wait to see what the tooth fair brings him, he's pretty sure it's a female and on Saturday he told grandpa that he wanted $1000. He's going to be pretty disappointed because it's not going to be anywhere near that amount. But none the less he will be excited for whatever he gets!

4-wheelin' it!

Ok, here are some video's of all the boys riding the 4 wheeler. This is actually the day that Josh broke his arm and this is the ramp that he did it on. Sorry it's sideways, I really tried rotating it but could not find anything allowing me to do it. This is a huge pet peeve of mine when pictures are sideways so I'm really sorry that it's this way. This literally is like the last run that he made because then the next one he feel off and we packed up and headed to the ER. And he's never been back on the 4 wheeler since, he absolutely refuses to get on it! We are just giving him time, he'll be back on one day. Then the next one is of my sweet Colton. We didn't know he could ride it but he climbed on it when it was free and started going but the first time was on the cement. We are so stinking lucky that he didn't fall off and get seriously hurt on the cement. So, we put him on the grass thinking it would be safer, (sadly we misjudge the damage grass can do) but anyways, Colton enjoyed himself on the 4wheeler. He loves it. In fact we park the 4 wheeler in the garage and have to remove the battery because he constantly climbs on it and we just don't need any more broken bones on our hands. Then the last one is of Nate. He can be kind of chicken to try new adventures. He never did go on the ramp, and I guess he was more cautious than his own parents. So, you can see his refusal to go up it, he attempted to try it though. What did we learn from all this? Building ramps out of rocks and a card table is not the best idea for a 3 year. So, the next time we do a ramp we will do it the right way and not a redneck ramp because let's face it, I have 3 boys and a husband- there will be more ramps in our future!

August Days

Painting

So, the day I did the lawn chairs the boys also wanted to paint. We had some big boxes laying around so I got out their washable paint and let them go to town. Nate did a really nice job on his box, he turned it into a race car. I didn't get a picture of the finished project but I was impressed by his car. Josh and Colton shared a box and I guess their's was an airport. We had just been to an airshow that morning so that's what Josh had on his mind. Of course it was his Daddy's airport. They had a lot of fun but they were a mess, especially Colton. It occupied them for quite some time so I really didn't care about the clean up. Although, Colton did require some good scrubbing because they found an almost empty bottle of spray paint and painted a big mushroom but not without getting splatter on Colton. That was a pain getting that to come off but nothing a little elbow grease couldn't handle.

This cast didn't slow this boy down much!

Airshow

We made it to the air show this year and spent a short time there. Colton is pointing up to the sky, showing us the planes. He's such a cutie!


Lots of different airplanes to see and explore. There was everything from commercial airplanes to military to small 2 seater airplanes, you name it, they had it. The boys loved getting on them and exploring them.






Nate and Josh needed a small break and sat down right under the wings of one plane.

Projects

These are some tiles that I decorated for the salon. I just haven't figured out how I want to hang them up. I'm not sure how I want to do it. I could do black ribbon or a picture hook. Any suggestions on a cute way to hang them? I'm up for some idea's.



BEFORE

You can't tell but there was a lot of rust on these chairs and the paint was chipping off everywhere. They needed some major work.

AFTER

These are the finished product. I think they look much better! I'm thinking that the white chairs behind them are going to get a spray of paint but in a nice red color to contrast with the black. That's what I've been doing lately, now I need to work on the inside of my house and clean it!

1st Day of School

This is only about a week late in coming. I've just been so tired lately that I've not gotten around to putting this picture up. I only got one picture of him on his first day of school because it was raining like crazy! We had to start the first half of the week with lots and lots of rain so Nathan got good use out of his new umbrella! This is the shirt that he chose to wear. I really don't care for these type of shirts but I finally gave in and let him pick a couple of them for school. I figured I need to start choosing my battles and since this wasn't a major one, I relented to his pleading. And he loves it! I still can't believe how fast the years went by and he's now in kindergarten! And it's all day kindergarten, I love it but it's a long day for a 5-6 year old kid. I really didn't shed any tears on this momentous occasion because I already got all the emotion out when he did his summer kindergarten. That was a huge transition time and it really prepared us both for this day. I was hesitant about the summer program but I'm totally doing it again with Josh when he's old enough! I just ask myself when did he get so big and old enough for kindergarten? Where did the years go? And how fast will the next 5 years go?

The last Oklahoma Pictures

Arbunckle Wilderness
Our last weekend in Oklahoma we went to this wild wilderness park. It was really a blast. It's an open park that you drive around in and see the animals in the wild. We were able to buy some feed cups and throw food to the animals. A few times we had animals reaching their heads into the van for food. They were not shy. Nate threw them food then Josh had to have his turn. Eventually towards the end Colton began throwing food out too. The boys had a lot of fun feeding the animals even Danny and I enjoyed ourselves alot. At one point we had some donkeys next to us that we were feeding. We began driving off and they started trotting alongside us so we stopped, gave them more food, then started off again and they followed along, we would stop. We did this a few times and got some good laughs out of it and finally had to drive off kind of fast to get our distance from them. Here are a few pics of our adventure.

I loved how Colton and Josh were all over each other. It was just too precious for me, I had to capture it on film.



Turner Falls
This place was awesome! We had a lot of fun! We didn't come prepared at all for it however. We didn't bring near enough water or food or even water shoes. It took an hour on the rode to get into the park entrance. This place was packed! It's a natural spring and caves. The water was really nice and warm. We first went to this little pool of water, Danny went first with Colton and I was helping the other 2 boys down in the water. I was standing on a rocky ledge and went to step in myself when I felt something suck onto my heel. I thought it was weird, freaked me out a little but I didn't say anything to Danny because I knew he'd say I was crazy. Well, we went to get out and he starts freaking out and kicking his leg. I guess something was getting his foot. We figured out that it was a fish that was hiding out in the ledge and sucks onto the feet. It really freaked him out and so I was able to tell him it did the same thing to me and this time he couldn't mock me. Luckily it didn't get any of the boys because I think that would have been too traumatizing for them. But after that the whole time we were in the water we were very cautious. In the end we got a big laugh out of it. We wish we had got it on film.
